Our Story
Opening Wahoo Willie’s is a dream come true for me, my roots are deeply tied to this beautiful 7 mile island which we call paradise. My great grandparents started the original Beach Bulletin newspaper on Fort Myers Beach in 1951 which was then bought by my grandparents and later sold to the Cape Coral Breeze. I have worked on the island in the restaurant industry since I was 14 so more than half of my life I’ve been learning from lots of amazing people to get to this point. I would like to thank my partners, Nick Ruland who is also a long time beach staple after years of owning and running the Fish Monger and Original Wahoo Willie’s in the early 2000s and now Snug Harbor. Also his partners Peter Ennis and John Shields. My Uncle Michael Stanton has had a big part in making this possible for all he taught me and all the amazing people I worked with and for because of him. He was General Manager and long time employee of Charley Browns later know as Charley’s Boathouse and was Owner of Gulfshore Grill and the Cottage from 1997-2009. At Wahoo Willie’s, we plan on using all the values that were used to make all above stated businesses successful and local favorites. Cheers to many years of fun at Wahoo Willie’s.
